Cameron Mattox B.Ed
Theatre/Drama. B.Ed Media. Grad Dip Drama in Education
Cameron has been working in theatre and drama in education for over 40 years.
In this time he has taught at all levels of education, been involved in curriculum research and design and has acted in and directed numerous plays and commercial work. Cameron has worked in Australia and the USA teaching and directing for professional theatre companies and Universities. He recently returned from Brooklyn College (USA) where he was invited to teach as a guest tutor.
Since he arrived in 1990 Cameron has developed a unique course of study for Hagley Theatre Company where he is currently Artistic Director. He steers the contemporary nature of our public performances and is responsible for introducing the popular Scene+ and Gi60 seasons to Christchurch audiences.
Cameron is the Company's Head of Acting and tutors Stage Direction while he also directs major seasons. In addition to his work with the Company Cameron is Head of Department (Performing Arts) for Hagley College.
Associate Artistic Director / Musical Theatre / Physical Theatre
Following two years training with the Company Darryl attained his Diploma in Performing Arts in 2000.
He then acted in a nationwide tour of the USA with the California Theatre Center and taught for their conservatory programme in 2001, returning to New Zealand after 9/11 to complete his Internship in Directing.
He joined us in 2002 as our Associate Artistic Director.
Darryl runs the day-to-day operations of the Company, directs many of our public seasons and still performs from time to time, both independently and as a mentoring actor to our students on specific projects.
He is also involved with ballet and annually produces a piece in aid of the Nelson Hospice.
In addition to working for us Darryl is also the Arts CoOrdinator for Hagley College and tutors for the College's After 3 programme.
Fleur De Thier
After completing her training with Auckland Performing Arts (now UNITEC) Fleur spent a number of years freelancing as a professional dancer. In 1998 she established one of Christchurch's leading dance companies, Scrambled Legs and together with Lyn Cotton formed Jolt Mixed Ability Dance Company in 2001.
Fleur is in great demand as a tutor and choreographer and has been involved with teaching dance at all levels with a number of schools including Rangi Ruru Girls' School and Rudolph Steiner.
Fleur is actively involved with a number of festivals and was one of the first tutors to support a newly established Hagley Dance Company in 2000, working once again with her contemporary and friend Sheryl Robinson. Fleur is a founding member of Rebound Dance Company and was recently appointed Artistic Advisor (Dance) for Hagley College.
Brendon Bennetts BA English, Grad. Dip . Education
Brendon joined our staff in 2015 and teaches Playwriting to both year levels.
He has written several plays himself including Antartic Adventure and The Adventures of Captain Cook (for Court Theatre) and Shakespeare: As You Write It (for New Zealand Playhouse). Stag Weekend, Brendon's full length play co-written with Dan Bain was performed at the Court Theatre in 2014.
Brendon is responsible for guiding our students towards completing a number of projects, notably the Gi60 International One Minute Play Festival that Hagley participates in.
Brendon is also a fan of improvisation and has been performing with the Court Jesters (Scared Scriptless) for the last 13 years.

We are very lucky to have secured the services of Marie, a highly regarded make up artist who has an extensive list of credits ranging from theatre, TV and film to opera, dance and fashion.
Marie introduces our students to the basics of make up and special effects required for characterisation.
Always in demand Marie is the make-up authority in Christchurch and currently works with many organisations including Showbiz and Southern Opera.
